After months of walking through dangers and waiting in a refugee camp in Sudan, they landed in Israel.
They stayed in an absorption center for two years. Maritu successfully graduated high school, and a short time afterward she was recruited to the army and trained to be a weapons instructor and a group commander. After two years in the army she started to study social work at the Tel- Aviv University. She specialized in children and teenagers therapy.
